Here we remember the former residents that have played their part in establishing the breeding programme in Romanno Stud.

Rubin Star N – Black, 1991 – 2017, 166cm
Sire – Rubinstein by Rosenkavalier
Dam – St Pr St Carella by Ramino

It is with deep sadness I can report the passing of our wonderful foundation stallion RUBIN STAR N (Rubinstein x St Pr St Carell), bn 1991 (nearing his 27th birthday) due to old age and related health issues.

RUBIN STAR N was undoubtedly fundamental in achieving the initial success of Romanno Stud and putting our name onto the international circuit. Purchased in 2003 from Paul Schockemohle, he was a horse that captured everybody’s heart with his amazing character and very soon became an integral part of the family and also the yard.

He was the champion stallion at his performance test gaining high marks for both the dressage and showjumping phases. He gained the maximum of 10 for both the willingness to learn and temperament assessments.

He successfully competed at intermediate 1 level and was himself highly placed in the final of the Bundeschampionat final. He was the series winner and most successful dressage stallion in his age group at the DHV Stallion Tournament in Euskirchen.

In 2002, the heritability assessment of the Equestrian Association would indicate that the future is his. A score of 141 points in dressage is a manifestation of the brilliant future prognosis for him and at the same time his jumping score of 122 points is above average. His dressage score also secured him the highest ranking heritability assessment for dressage among all stallions kept in the Hessen area of Germany.

Rubin Star’s offspring continue to excel in both the sports and show rings. In 2015 Romanno Royale, HOYS Cuddy Supreme In Hand Champion. Other HOYS finalists include Stanley Grange Blencathra , Sutton Grange Amazing Grace, Runnon Ruby Tuesday. Other consistant show champions are Remember Rossmore, Remember Rio and Rommano Rubins Devine.. Romanno Rafiel was BD National Novice Open Winter Champion and also was accepted for breeding with the Warmblood Breeders UK Studbook. Riesenstern was BD elementary Open national Champion and Romanno Rustic Star is a regulary winner.
Rubin Star’s progeny competed at international level, these include Rossini and Rush Hour, both grand prix dressage. Willibalds Riverdance CCI 3* inter dressage, Roly Poly advanced show jumping and the wonderful Rolling Stone II CCI 3 * advanced eventer in USA, ridden by Nate Chambers.

He will be sorely missed at the stud but remains present in his daughters that we have and we are lucky to have 2 foals due to him out of wonderful mares in 2018. We are also thankful to have frozen semen taken from him when he was in his prime.
